L. Cole Callihan joined Adams and Reese in 2011 as a Litigation Associate in the firm's New Orleans office. Cole is a former summer associate at Adams and Reese with experience in various litigation matters and commercial law.
Before attending law school, Cole had a background in finance, concentration in investments and financial services, and a bachelor of science in business administration, working as an accounting specialist for the Louisiana Department of Education and interning with the Louisiana Department of Treasury.
Cole's representative highlights include:
· Wrote two comments, both of which were published in the American Journal of Trial Advocacy (What Persuasion Will Smithfield Foods, Inc. v. United Food and Commercial Workers International Union have in Future Cases Concerning the Unclean Hands Affirmative Defense in the Civil RICO Context?, 33 Am. J. Trial Advoc. 411) (Fall 2009) and (Morgan v. Trial Advoc. 195) (Summer 2010).
· Obtained the Scholar of Merit award in product liability, and pre-trial practice and procedure.
· Regularly sat in on the Baton Rouge Bar Association's weekly legal clinic, Thirst for Justice, which allowed him to witness the positive impact that pro bono services can have on the less fortunate in the community.
Cole received his J.D., cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned his bachelor of science in business administration from Louisiana State University.
Among the people Cole admires is retired Chief Judge Melvin Shortess for not only helping to create the Baton Rouge Bar Association's Thirst for Justice free legal clinic, but he also made it a point to regularly show up at the clinic to counsel walk-ins. Such continued public service is a testament to the difference that one person can make.
In his spare time, Cole enjoys writing music, biking at Audubon Park, and fishing on Cane River.
