Laura J. Gage is a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP. As vice chair of the firm's Health Care Industry Team, she counsels health care clients on corporate matters and compliance issues. Her practice is focused on the transactional aspects of health care law including formation of joint ventures, affiliations, and acquisition and sale of physician practices. Ms. Gage has experience in analyzing transactions and contractual arrangements for compliance with health care fraud and abuse laws and physician self-referral restrictions. Ms. Gage has prepared and continues to oversee the physician recruitment programs for a number of clients. She also has represented health care clients in general corporate matters, partnership restructuring, and the dissolution of practices, as well as negotiating contractual matters. Ms. Gage's professional activities include speaking engagements on a variety of topics including the Stark Law and compliance matters. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association. She also is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association's Health Law Section, previously serving as a member of the Section's governing council. She also served as editor of the Wisconsin State Bar's Health Law Wisconsin newsletter. Ms. Gage graduated from the University of Wisconsin (J.D., with honors, 1988; B.B.A., with honors, 1983), where she was articles editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and Order of the Coif. She was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 1988. Ms. Gage has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the 2009 - 2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of health care law. |
