Laura L. Hunt is an Associate in the Firm's Health Care Practice Group. Ms. Hunt has experience representing a diverse group of health care providers, including but not limited to, hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, institutional pharmacies, home care agencies, adult day care facilities, physician groups and various other health care facilities and providers.
Ms. Hunt actively represents and provides guidance to health care providers on a variety of matters involving regulatory compliance, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and recoupment (including audits), HIPAA and privacy issues, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, state kickback and referral prohibitions, provider reporting obligations under New Jersey's Health Care Professional Responsibility and Reporting Enhancement Act, corporate practice of medicine, accreditation and licensure and certificate of need licensing. She also has experience in health care transactions that includes preparing professional services and co-management agreements as well as advising hospitals regarding medical staff issues.
Ms. Hunt is also an experienced health care litigator whose practices includes, among other things, successfully representing providers during the reimbursement recoupment process, including participation in appeal hearings before the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals. Ms. Hunt has previous experience defending an institutional provider against a False Claim Act qui tam. She also has extensive past experience defending negligence actions on behalf of skilled nursing facilities.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Hunt practiced for several years as a litigator and health care associate in Kentucky.
