Lewis H. Silverman is a Shareholder in the White Plains, New York office of the national labor law firm of Jackson Lewis P.C. Mr. Silverman has represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment law for the past thirty-two (32) years. He has represented many employers before the NLRB and has given advice in numerous union organization drives. During his career, Mr. Silverman has negotiated approximately 200 collective bargaining agreements and has handled complex arbitrations on such issues as subcontracting, layoffs, plant closing and relocations. Mr. Silverman also counsels employers on a wide variety of employment issues, such as fair employment, wage and hour, and hiring and firing with a view to minimizing potential litigation.
Mr. Silverman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, cum laude, from Syracuse University and his Juris Doctor Degree, with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Mr. Silverman is a member of the Bar of the State of New York. He is also admitted to practice before various federal courts. Mr. Silverman is a member of the American Bar Association (Committee on Practice and Procedure under the National Labor Relations Act) and is also a member of the Westchester Bar Association (Labor Law Committee).
Mr. Silverman joined the Firm's New York City office in 1974 and, along with several other partners, helped to open the White Plains office in 1981. Today, the office has grown to forty attorneys and services clients throughout the United States.
Mr. Silverman has lectured extensively on labor and employment issues. He has been a guest lecturer on labor law at the Albany Law School and has appeared on radio and cable television to discuss workplace issues. In addition, Mr. Silverman regularly conducts seminars and workshops for employers and business organizations in the development and implementation of preventive labor and employment programs.
