Soldati is a successful trial lawyer with over 30 years experience as a prosecutor, defense attorney, teacher, public speaker, author and criminal justice activist in the State of New Hampshire. Born in Rochester and raised in Portsmouth and Exeter, he graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Dover, NH), the University of Notre Dame and Franklin Pierce Law Center. Settling in Warner, NH, he began his legal career in 1978 as a sole practitioner with a general practice in Concord, but in 1980 he moved to Dover to become an associate in Hon. Joseph Nadeau's general practice law firm. After Nadeau's appointment to the Superior Court, Attorney Soldati ran for Strafford County Attorney in 1982 and over the course of almost 18 years, was elected nine times. In 2000, Attorney Soldati joined the firm of Jeffco, Starbranch and Soldati in Portsmouth, which specializes in criminal defense. Soldati has returned to his legal roots and now works as a sole practitioner with offices in Portsmouth and Somersworth, New Hampshire. His years of trial work - often in high profile cases - earned him a reputation as an effective and dynamic trial attorney of impeccable integrity. As an activist in the justice system, he affected policy by writing statewide protocols for sexual assault and domestic violence cases, and by testifying on legislation before the NH Legislature. As a teacher, he has trained judges, prosecutors, lawyers, police, medical personnel, victim advocates, and university and high school students, on a variety of legal issues. As a public speaker, he has addressed issues such as the death penalty, sexual assault, date rape and domestic violence. He recently wrote "Debtors Prison Redux" which appeared in The Wire. He has been active in the Somersworth community having spent eight years on the Somersworth School Board (serving as chair in his final year) and more recently, was elected to the Somersworth Charter Commission serving as Secretary.
