Linda C. Sweeting is a civil trial attorney in the firm's Miami office. She has had a diversified practice that includes litigation and management of civil cases including serious and catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, negligent security, product liability, first party insurance coverage, and insurance fraud claims. Over the years, Ms. Sweeting has represented both defendants and plaintiffs.
Ms. Sweeting received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She then attended the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. Ms. Sweeting is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Court Mediator. She has been a member of the Florida Bar in good standing and admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida since 1985. Ms. Sweeting also maintains an AV Preeminent ® (5.0) rating from Martindale-Hubbell ® Peer Review Ratings, which indicates that her peers rank her at the highest level of professional excellence.
Ms. Sweeting served on the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee of the Florida Bar for six (6) years. During that time, she conducted Diversity Training for Florida's JNC Commissioners who nominate candidates for judicial appointment. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, now known as the Florida Justice Association; and she acted as Chair of the Women's Caucus. In the community, she has worked with Junior Achievement teaching in schools and also served as co-leader of a Girl Scout troupe. Today she participates in charities that include World Vision, the ALS Association, MADD, and Susan G. Komen ® Race for the Cure.
