Lisa is a member in the Litigation Section in the Boston office. She conducts an extensive practice in construction law and commercial litigation. As a leader of the firm's Construction Law Practice Group, Lisa has built an impressive record representing contractors, developers and project owners in both the public and private sector.
Through her more than eleven years of experience as a construction lawyer, Lisa has been instrumental in litigating and resolving several multi-million-dollar disputes on projects such as MWRA's Deer Island Outfall Tunnel Project, the Central Artery's Ted Williams Tunnel Finish Work Project, the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission's Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Project, the Army Corps of Engineers' Kill van Kull Harbor Deeping Project and the Wachusett Aqueduct Rehabilitation Project. She has also counseled clients on all aspects of procurement law, project development and claims procedure, and has developed an expertise in dealing with complex, multi-party claims disputes involving issues related to design/build, project delays, defective work, termination, mechanic's liens, differing site conditions, pay-if-paid provisions, and surety and insurance coverage. Lisa recently was instrumental in arbitrating a complicated design defect case for a public authority after protracted discovery and extensive expert witness presentations on a design/build project. On behalf of a contractor seeking an equitable adjustment against the Army Corps of Engineers, Lisa also recently served as trial counsel in a two-week, multi-million dollar federal court trial held in the US Court of Federal Claims.
Lisa has also established herself as an attorney committed to promoting social justice and human rights work on behalf of typically unrepresented and marginalized groups. She received Mintz Levin's Pro Bono Award for her successful work on behalf of asylum seeks from Uganda, Haiti and Guinea and she has argued at all levels of the administrative process, including the trial and appellate levels. From November 2004 - March 2005, Lisa worked as a Special Assistant District Attorney through Mintz Levin's partnership with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. During that time, Lisa took more than 30 criminal cases to trial.
In 2008, 2009, and 2010, Lisa was recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers "Rising Star," in a listing published as a special supplement to Boston Magazine.
Lisa is an active member of the firm's Hiring Committee. She also serves on the Professional Development Committee. She mentors and trains younger associates, and she has co-authored numerous articles for the annual ABA publication Business and Commercial Litigation on the topic of nonprofit corporate governance.
Lisa is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Federal Claims, Massachusetts state court and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Women's Bar Association and she sits on the board of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
