Lisa M. deFilippis is Of Counsel in the Cleveland, Ohio, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She has practiced employee benefits law for 25 years.

Ms. deFilippis advises a wide range of businesses and organizations in various industries, including manufacturing, sports management, health care, professional practice, tax-exempt organizations, universities and government entities, varying in size from large publicly traded companies, public universities, mid-size companies to small closely held businesses and nonprofits.

Ms. deFilippis is experienced in all aspects of employee benefits law, including both retirement, welfare benefit, and nonqualified executive compensation plan design, drafting, compliance, fiduciary compliance issues, and employee benefits aspects of acquisitions and divestitures. Ms. deFilippis represents clients with respect to IRS and Department of Labor examinations and audits, and assists in the resolution of plan defects, including submissions to IRS and Department of Labor voluntary correction programs. Ms. deFilippis' practice also includes advising tax-exempt organizations, educational institutions and governmental organizations with respect to 403(b) plans and 457(b) plans, and advising religious organizations with respect to church plans.

Prior to private practice, Ms. deFilippis was in-house counsel for two trucking companies in the areas of employee benefits and business law.

Ms. deFilippis has been a regular speaker on ERISA topics, presenting at seminars, webinars and bar associations on topics such as plan fiduciary compliance issues, new 401(k) fee disclosure requirements, 403(b) plan regulations, and health care reform.
