Diversity at Loeb & Loeb LLP

Loeb & Loeb believes that diversity is integral to the culture and success of the firm. We place a high value on maintaining a diverse workforce, and we are committed to achieving a workplace environment in which all attorneys and staff feel welcome, valued, and included.

To drive our firm’s diversity initiatives, a Diversity Initiative Committee was formed consisting of attorneys and administrators from the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago offices. The Committee seeks to facilitate the establishment and implementation of firm-wide practices and policies that support the firm’s commitment to maintaining a diverse workplace reflecting the diversity of the professional community and the community at large. The Diversity Initiative Committee seeks to assist and monitor Loeb & Loeb’s continuing efforts to promote and achieve its diversity goals, and, in particular, the goal of meaningfully increasing the representation and retention of women and minority lawyers at all levels of the firm. They also make recommendations to Loeb & Loeb’s Chairman regarding procedures for enhancing the recruitment, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys and the integration of the firm’s diversity goals into the everyday decision-making, policies and practices of its management. In addition, the Diversity Initiative Committee serves as a liaison between the firm’s management and its other personnel to address diversity questions, issues and concerns.

In response to interest expressed by associates and perceived “best practices,” the firm has recently expanded its mentoring program, making participation in the program mandatory for all new associates. The mentoring program is intended to provide both a supportive and a guided environment for associates. Based on extensive study and review, the firm believes that such a program is particularly welcomed by associates of diverse backgrounds as a means of more seamlessly incorporating all associates into the fabric of the firm.

To drive our firm's diversity initiatives, a six-member Diversity Initiative Committee was formed consisting of partners from the New York and Los Angeles offices. The chair of the firm's Diversity Initiative Committee is Michael Zweig, also chair of the Employment and Labor Group. The committee has collectively spent well over 200 hours in the past year in furtherance of the firm's diversity initiatives.

To demonstrate our commitment to diversity, Loeb & Loeb is a member and/or sponsor of several organizations that support and reflect our diverse society, such as the California Minority Counsel Program and Lambda Legal, among others. We also participate in programs that promote diversity in the legal profession, including the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program, a program recently expanded in Los Angeles and in which the ABA Section of Litigation places law students of color or from disadvantaged backgrounds in judicial internships.

In addition, we are a signatory of the Diversity Statement and Policies promulgated by the New York City and Los Angeles Bar Associations. Both of these initiatives call upon law firms to hire diverse incoming classes and to maintain this diversity as associates rise in seniority and are considered for partnership.
