Loren practices in the creative industries, which include arts and entertainment, entrepreneurship and media and technology. He counsels and provides transactional services to creative professionals, such as musicians, producers, talent managers, artists, designers, photographers, authors and public personalities. He also works with entertainment and media companies, galleries, small businesses and start-ups.
In addition to his legal work with Husch Blackwell, Loren maintains the law firm he began.
Loren is founder of The Discography: Legal Encyclopedia of Popular Music, the first expansive case law database for the music industry, with Washington University Law School's Center for Empirical Research in the Law. The Discography, a well-regarded music-industry resource, was featured in National Law Journal. Loren currently serves as The Discography's lay executive director.
Loren is the legal and business director of Carbon Studios in Chicago, where freelancers, small business owners and e-commuting professionals work alongside each other, fostering spontaneous and continuous collaboration and innovation.
In addition to his legal work, Loren is a freelance artist, musician and writer/editor.
Prior to law school, Loren was a product consultant for Morningstar Inc., an investment research company, where he assisted with client relations and taught online classes for financial advisers and institutions. He also was programing director for Levine Hillel Center at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
