Lou focuses his practice on commercial litigation. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation matters in both federal and state courts. Lou has first-chair experience in all phases of civil litigation, including mediations and trial. Lou's experience includes, but is not limited to, matters involving contract disputes, tort claims, professional liability/negligence and insurance coverage.
Representative Experience
Significant professional liability experience, including defending and obtaining favorable settlements for clients in professional negligence actions against title insurers, and defending and obtaining favorable settlements for client in legal malpractice actions.
Representing insurance clients in coverage matters and monitoring underlying actions.
Representing employers in vicarious liability actions arising from negligent and intentional acts of employees, resulting in favorable settlements.
Representing one of the nations premier builders of multifamily housing units in contractual disputes with subcontractor.
Representing commercial clients in numerous disputes arising under the California Commercial Code.
Representing the Motorcycle Safety Foundation in the prosecution of copyright infringement claims resulting in a favorable settlement.
Representing defendant in complex contractual indemnity action involving numerous parties resulting in a favorable settlement.
Representing several clients against fraud allegations by former business partners, all of which resulted in either non-suits or favorable settlements.
Representing relators in novel False Claims Act case that obtained $76.25 million in recoveries based upon allegations of price fixing for carbon fiber.
Representing several clients in adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court.
