Larry Lian is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Chemical, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practice.
Before joining Foley, Mr. Lian worked for Judge Paul W. Tressler on the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas. He also interned with Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Lian worked as a scientist with Myriad Genetics and Cytogen. While at Myriad Genetics, he conducted experiments to find proteins associated with BRCA1 & 2 (the first two breast cancer genes cloned in the world). While at Cytogen, Mr. Lian was one of the first few employees to start building a protein interaction database for drug target discovery. He later worked as a senior clinical statistics programmer at Barr Pharmaceuticals (now part of Teva Pharmaceuticals). While there, Mr. Lian participated in evaluating new drug efficacy as well as submitting new drug applications to the FDA.
He earned his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law (J.D., dean's list, 2009). Mr. Lian received a master's degree in genetics (M.S., 1993) and a bachelor's degree in biology (B.S., 1990), both from Nankai University in Tianjin, China.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association.
Mr. Lian is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Lian is fluent in Chinese.
