Luc Beaulieu practises in the areas of employment and labour law, human rights and freedoms and administrative law (litigation and judicial review). He frequently represents federal and provincial public and private corporations before various judicial and quasi-judicial bodies with jurisdiction in such matters. Mr. Beaulieu regularly advises companies on management styles that contribute to reducing, if not eliminating, their employees' interest in unionizing. He has particular expertise in manufacturing, air transport, aeronautics, broadcasting, cable television, bus transportation, and relations between producers and performers. For several years, the Conseil du patronat du Québec has retained Mr. Beaulieu's services in connection with and before parliamentary and government committees and commissions, including as a delegate to the Consultative Council on Labour and Manpower. In October 1992 Mr. Beaulieu was appointed amicus curiae by the Department of Justice Canada to defend the respondents' position regarding the powers of inquiry of the Canada Labour Relations Board before the Supreme Court of Canada in the matter of Canadian Labour Relations Board v Nolisair International Inc. A decision favourable to the position defended by the amicus curiae of the Supreme Court of Canada was handed down on October 21, 1993, and was published in the Supreme Court Reports at [1993] 3 SCR 724.
