Lyda Stone advises companies and investment funds on the Dutch and international tax aspects of a wide range of matters, including corporate restructurings, holding companies, financing, licensing and sales structures, transfer pricing, and mergers and acquisitions.
Lyda's recent experience includes a global business restructuring under chapter 9 of the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines for a U.S. Fortune 100 company, setting up a Dutch principal company structure; structuring an exit mechanism for the management and employees in a Netherlands headquartered group; advising Italian and Russian multinationals on setting up holding and financing companies in the Netherlands and Luxembourg and obtaining tax rulings; assisting a large Russian group in negotiating a favorable outcome of various tax return disputes with the Dutch Revenue Service; negotiating a tax ruling with the Dutch Revenue Service for a clinical stage U.S. pharmaceutical company that has established its principal sales and IP company in the Netherlands; setting up leasing structures for oil rigs, FPSOs, and platforms operated in Brazil and Venezuela; and advising on a number of M&A transactions.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Lyda was a senior associate in the Amsterdam office of a leading Dutch firm. She also has worked in Luxembourg; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Milan, Italy.
Lyda regularly teaches tax courses at the Law Firm School of the Dutch Bar Association. She also has taught at multinational corporations as part of in-house traineeship programs. She is a member of the Netherlands Bar Association.
