Lynne M. McMahan is of counsel in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Indianapolis, Indiana office. She is a member of the Corporate Department and concentrates her practice in the areas of general business/corporate and securities law.
Ms. McMahan advises both public and private business entities in connection with reorganization transactions including mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions including debt and equity offerings, and general securities law compliance issues. She also counsels for-profit and nonprofit business entities with respect to matters of organization and governance. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, she served as counsel to a governmental pension plan and as legal vice president of a public corporation.
Ms. McMahan graduated cum laude from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 1981, where she was an articles editor and a published author for the Indiana Law Review. While at law school, she also attended the Indiana University School of Business-Indianapolis and received her M.B.A. in 1981. She received her B.S. in journalism and speech, cum laude, from Bowling Green State University in 1976.
Ms. McMahan is a former chairman of the United Way Committee of the Indianapolis Bar Association, a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series, and has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Edyvean Repertory Theatre, the March of Dimes, and the Indianapolis Children's Choir Parents Association. In addition, she has held leadership roles and served in other volunteer positions with the Junior League of Indianapolis, The Orchard School, and Girl Scouts of the Hoosier Capital Council.
Ms. McMahan is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She is a member of the Indiana Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association.
