Chris Eagan has been with the firm since graduating law school in 1987. Chris is a former Chairman and member of the firm's recruiting committee. Practice Chris has worked on a broad variety of litigation matters, focusing on medical malpractice defense, healthcare law, professional licensing and credentialing, federal state regulatory issues for hospitals and hospital risk management issues. Highlights * 2006 defense verdict in medical malpractice case involving obstetrical complication resulting in significant neurologic injury to newborn. * 2006 defense verdict in medical malpractice case against hospital involving admitted violation of the standard of care where case was defended on causation issues. * Presented paper at the Annual Scientific Meeting and post-graduate course program for the Southeastern Surgical Congress in New Orleans, Louisiana, February 11-15, 2005, regarding medical malpractice issues and bariatric surgery. Honors And Awards Chris serves as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and as the 2011 Chair of the Medical Liaison Committee for the Birmingham Bar Association. He was named the 2008 Lawyer of the Year by BLSA- Birmingham's association of legal professionals. Chris also maintains an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. While in law school, Chris served on the Cumberland Law Review. He received the Book Award in Civil Procedure. Community Involvement Chris is on the Advisory Board of Magic Moments, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening or life-altering illnesses. He served as Chairman of this organization in 2004 and he served on the Board between 1999 and 2005. He also volunteers for First Light Shelter for homeless women in Birmingham, Alabama. He has also been involved in literacy for disabled adults with the Adult Learning Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Chris is also a member of the fraternities Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Delta Phi.
