Scott is a Partner in the Jackson office and has successfully resolved disputes in state and federal courts for both local clients in the Jackson area and international clients. Before attending law school, Scott was a pricing and revenue analyst in the technology sector of a Fortune 500 company. He relies on this business experience to identify the many issues his clients may face in litigation.
He has litigated cases in employment, banking, bankruptcy, construction, education, healthcare, contracts, and insurance coverage.
His significant contributions include:
· Successfully obtaining summary judgment for clients in both State and Federal Courts.
· Litigating a partnership dispute on a major proposed project in Mississippi.
· Obtaining and defending claims for injunctive relief.
· Routinely advising clients on matters to avoid or minimize litigation.
Scott is active in the community by participating with the Mississippi Economic Council and serving as clerk of the Session at Highlands Presbyterian Church. He is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Mississippi and sits on the board of directors for the Capital Area Bar Association and Reformed University Fellowship - Midsouth. Scott is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Madison County Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors, and Mississippi Bankers Association. Scott is also active with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, where he provides pro bono legal services to those in need.
While in law school, Scott served as the chairman of the Moot Court Board. He also argued in the final round of the Conrad B. Duberstein National Bankruptcy Competition in New York and won the Best Brief award.
Scott counts Winston Churchill and the theologian Charles Hodge among those he admires in history. In addition to spending time with his wife and two daughters, he enjoys tennis, golf and flying.
