Founded in 1898 by Pearl Wilson Maddox (1872-1949), graduate of Southern Normal University, Huntingdon, TN, Valedictorian Summa Cum Laude. P. W. Maddox also served in the State House of Representatives (1901-1905), and was Referee in Bankruptcy for the Western District of Tennessee (1908-1913). Dwayne D. Maddox (1897-1945), eldest son of P. W. Maddox, graduate of Cumberland University (1917) joined the firm 1917, was also admitted in the State of Michigan, and served as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee (1931-1933). Webster Poe Maddox (1899-1987), youngest son of P. W. Maddox, graduate of Vanderbilt University (1921), joined the firm in 1921, and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney from (1926-1930). D. D. Maddox, son of Dwayne D. Maddox, began the practice of law in 1957, and was joined by his eldest son, Dwayne D. Maddox III, in 1984 and his youngest son Matthew M. Maddox in 1990. The firm is anticipating 100 years of legal service in West Tennessee.
