Manuela Morais concentrates her practice on business immigration law matters. Her practice includes the representation of multinational and domestic companies and individuals in matters before agencies including:
ˇ Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services
ˇ U.S. Department of State
Before entering private practice, Ms. Morais served as a law intern in the Migration Department of the Nationalities Service Center. She also served as a congressional aide to The Honorable Robert E. Andrews in his Congressional District Office.
Representative Matters
ˇ Represented multinational corporations, small businesses and medium sized employers in business immigration matters before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the U.S. Department of Labor, and at U.S. Consulates.
ˇ Handled high volume inbound and outbound immigration issues for large U.S. employers, ranging from routine visa work to more complex inadmissibility issues, and counseling on compliance issues.
ˇ Provided individual immigration advice and corporate immigration counseling to employers and their foreign worker employees, including the drafting of immigration compliance policy handbooks.
ˇ Represented U.S. hospitals, medical centers and health care facilities seeking to temporarily employ foreign nurses and foreign medical graduates by petitioning for H visas.
ˇ Represented U.S. companies seeking to temporarily employ skilled and unskilled workers in positions that are temporary in nature and for which U.S. workers are not available.
ˇ Obtained immigrant and nonimmigrant visas for extraordinary scientists and outstanding researchers on behalf of educational institutions, research organizations and engineering firms.
ˇ Provided guidance to employers in I-9 compliance and Labor Department audits.
ˇ Represented nationally recognized ballet company by petitioning for outstanding artists and obtaining permanent residence for foreign dancers with extraordinary ability in the arts.
ˇ Represented foreign nationals seeking U.S. permanent residence by investing in a commercial enterprise in the United States as well as nonimmigrant investors applying for E-2 (treaty investor) and L-1 (intracompany transferee) visas.
ˇ Represented foreign corporations in transferring personnel to the United States from subsidiaries abroad under L-1 non-immigrant visas and assisted in the establishment of the U.S. operations of foreign corporations.
