Biography

Marbree is an associate in the Boston office, practicing in the Litigation Section. Her practice focuses on shareholder, securities, and complex commercial litigation. She has represented individuals, including officers and directors, and corporations in civil litigation and enforcement proceedings in state and federal courts and before various regulatory agencies.

Representative experience includes:

· Successfully defending an individual alleged to have violated the Securities Act of 1933 and the Exchange Act of 1934 at trial before the Chief Administrative Law Judge of the SEC. Following trial, all claims against the client and his co-respondent were dismissed.

· Securing, on behalf of an international corporation and its subsidiaries, a $100 million settlement in connection with a dispute concerning illiquid auction rate securities and collateralized debt obligations that were purchased in the client's corporate cash accounts.

· Representing clients in connection with internal investigations and investigative and enforcement proceedings conducted by the SEC and state regulatory agencies.

· Defending public companies and their officers in shareholder class actions and derivative suits.

· Securing political asylum for pro bono clients from Iraq and Uganda.

Marbree has successfully represented clients at the appellate level including co-authoring briefs filed with the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Before joining Mintz Levin, Marbree was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Cordy of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.

While in law school, she served as an intern to the Honorable Patti B. Saris of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and assisted the Honorable Roderick L. Ireland, now Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, with updating and revising the Massachusetts Practice treatise, Juvenile Law. She was an Executive Comment & Note Editor of the New England Law Review where she authored "The Thought Police: Doling Out Punishment for Thinking About Criminal Behavior in John Doe v. City of Lafayette," 40 NEW ENG. L. REV. 263 (2005).

Marbree is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First and Second Circuits. She received her B.F.A. in Theatre, with honors, from New York University and her J.D., summa cum laude, from New England School of Law. Before entering the practice of law, Marbree worked in the travel industry in Massachusetts and in professional theatre in New York.
