Biography

Marc-Alexandre Hudon is an associate in our Litigation Group in Montréal with a practice in general litigation, class actions, competition law and aboriginal law.

Mr. Hudon acts regularly for clients in the context of commercial litigation, including the defence of class actions and rogatory commission proceedings, as well as in the defence of civil liability actions. Over the years, he has developed specific expertise in the field of civil procedure, including the rules against the institution of abusive actions.

Mr. Hudon has co-authored several articles and conference papers in the fields of civil procedure and class actions, including the following:

Mr. Hudon has also developed specific expertise in the fields of aboriginal law and natural resources law. His experience in these fields includes:

· advising industry with regard to First Nation issues and consultation processes;

· assisting companies operating in the energy and natural resources industries in the context of transactions involving First Nation issues, in particular in the context of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and financings; and

· advising businesses in connection with environmental and regulatory issues, including issues arising from the application of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and the Northern Plan.

Mr. Hudon has co-authored several publications and conference papers in the field of aboriginal law, including the following:

Mr. Hudon holds a B.Com. in finance from HEC Montréal as well as a BCL and a LLB from McGill University. During his legal studies, he was awarded several prizes in the fields of commercial and taxation law. Mr. Hudon also holds two master's degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science, one in International Employment Relations and Human Resources Management and the other in European Management. His master's thesis on the management of professional firms received the highest grade in the program. Mr. Hudon has also completed with distinction the Canadian Securities Course.

Mr. Hudon was called to the Québec Bar in 2007. He is a member of HEC Montréal Alumni Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Young Bar Association of Montréal.
