He obtained a law degree at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in 1992 (cum laude) and a Master of Laws degree in Comparative Jurisprudence at New York University School of Law (USA) in 1994. He is licensed to practice law in Guatemala and in the New York State (USA). Before co-founding Quiñones, Ibargüen & Luján, S.C. he first worked as a litigation associate in one of the most respected litigation law firms in Guatemala, and later as senior associate in charge of the international corporate department of another prestigious international practice law firm. Marcos Ibargüen Segovia has taught Commercial Obligations and Contracts at Universidad Rafael Landívar and civil law and International Business Transactions at Universidad Francisco Marroquín. He is a board member of several entities in Guatemala and is an approved arbitrator by the Guatemalan Arbitration and Mediation Center (CENAC).
