Margaret Rintoul is a partner within Blaney McMurtry's Personal Services Group where she practices estate planning, administration and litigation for estates, trusts and adult guardianships.
Margaret has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Bar Association, and is a past chair of both sections. She is a former Chair of the Annual Institute of the Ontario Bar Association; was the co-chair of the Make a Will Month program of the Ontario Bar Association from 1998 to 2000, and was a member of a committee formed by the Ministry of the Attorney General dealing with the implementation of the Substitute Decisions Act, 1992, from 1992 until 1995. Currently Margaret is also a member of an Ontario Bar Association task force on the regulation of paralegals.
She has been a faculty member for many years of the Estate Planning and Administration Section of the Bar Administration Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada and a frequent speaker at Continuing Education Events sponsored by the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Ontario Bar Association.
Margaret is the author of Ontario Estate Administration; Practitioners Guide to Estate Practice, and the Canadian Forms and Precedents Estate Administration, Litigation and Wills. She is a contributing author to Financial and Estate Planning for the Mature Client in Ontario, and Widdifield on Executors and Trustees, and the author of many papers on various aspects of estates, trusts and adult guardianship.
Margaret has been rated by LEXPERT, a Canadian legal directory, as one of the consistently recommended legal practitioners in the Estate and Personal Tax Planning Category.
