Mark's practice is focused on commercial and employment litigation. He has a substantial amount of experience conducting trials and arbitrations in these areas. Mark appears frequently in the state and federal courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and before the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights. Mark's clients include corporations with large payrolls and diverse employment law issues. In addition to handling contested matters, Mark advises clients on commercial, tax and employment questions that arise on a day-to-day basis. Mark has been listed in Chambers USA Leading Lawyers For Business in the fields of both Commercial Litigation and Employment Law every year since 2004, and is included in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers In America in the field of Commercial Litigation. Mark also has been named a New England Super Lawyer and a Rhode Island Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine every year since 2007.
Notable Experience
· Mark obtained a defense jury verdict in the first case ever tried under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act.
· In 2008, in a case of first impression, Mark obtained a declaration conferring tax-exempt status on Gordon Research Conferences, an organization that sponsors scientific symposia.
· In 2006, obtained a defense verdict in an age discrimination trial brought against a manufacturer which laid-off a 60-year old employee pursuant to a company restructuring program.

Before Edwards Wildman
Mark practiced for three years as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He received the Justice Department's Special Achievement Award.
Besides Edwards Wildman
Mark has served as Commissioner of the East Greenwich, Rhode Island Historic District Commission. He also served as a Director of the Rhode Island Audubon Society and as a delegate to the Rhode Island Bar Association. He is an officer of the Rhode Island chapter of the Harvard Law School Association, and serves as Parliamentarian of the Rhode Island Credit Union.
