Biography

Mark brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm's Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation team. As an engineer and engineering manager in the aerospace industry for 12 years, he worked in various technical areas, including electronic, electro-mechanical, digital and analog signal processing, software, electro-optical, display/vision systems, instrument route/electronic airborne counter-measures, processor and control systems, digital map and radar image analysis for target recognition, and terrain following.

Adding his past experience to his current law practice focused on intellectual property makes for a powerful combination. As such, Mark guides patent and trademark prosecution and overall portfolio management - domestic and foreign - and renders patent infringement, validity, state-of-the-art and other opinions for clients in a variety of areas. He advises in the areas of software, business methods, automated food processing, electronic/electrical, manufacturing and electro-mechanical design, mechanical, heavy equipment, robotics, telecommunications, utilities, and petroleum exploration/production systems. Mark's work on behalf of industry clients has included:
• Patent preparation and prosecution, general portfolio management and opinion work for Tyson Foods Inc. in various areas, including automated industrial production systems.
• Patent preparation and prosecution, general portfolio management and opinion work for Saint Louis University in various technology areas, including electrical, electro-mechanical, software, bio-medical and bio-electrical technologies.

Mark also provides patent litigation support and litigation management. His practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secrets, technology agreements, confidentiality/nondisclosure agreements, employment/consulting agreements and licensing agreements for open-source software. His practice also consists of intellectual property portfolio management, including assisting clients with intellectual property valuation.
