Mark concentrates his practice in the area of construction law and real estate litigation. Through his expertise to organize, prepare, and present cases that combine a variety of legal issues, significant claims for damages and substantial volumes of documentation, he adheres to the highest standards of legal excellence and service to his clients.
His construction experience includes public and private projects, surety bond claims and mechanics liens. He also manages real estate litigation, owner and lender title insurance defense work and zoning matters. In addition to his experience in the courtroom at every phase of the litigation process, Mark has experience with all forms of alternate dispute resolution. He has also litigated copyright patents, trademark and unfair competition cases, including enforcement of non-compete provisions.
Mark knows that a successful outcome requires an understanding of the various issues and parties involved in such disputes and requires proactive strategizing to develop legal solutions. Mark is a firm believer that the keys to success in these matters rely on working with his clients to determine which cases should be litigated in court and which can and should be settled through a creative mix of litigation, aggressiveness, and business skills. Mark was selected in 2011 and 2012 as a Rising Star through a peer- and achievement-based review by Law & Politics Media, Inc.
Professional/Civic Activities
Mark is a member of the Ohio State, American, Cleveland Metropolitan and Lorain County Bar Associations as well as the American Bar Association Construction Industry Forum. In addition, Mark is on the Board of Directors for the North Coast Building Industry Association (NCBIA) and is a member of the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies (LANDS). Mark is an elected member of the Elyria (Lorain County) City Council, a member of the Lorain County Historical Society, is the past-chairman of the Parish Council at St. Jude's Church in Elyria, and is a Lorain County Salvation Army Board member.
