Professional Experience
Mr. Steere has been representing clients in real estate matters since 1980. His practice encompasses all aspects of transactional matters, including the structuring of complex acquisitions and dispositions of real property. A preeminent leasing attorney, he has been called upon to represent landlords and tenants in all forms of leases throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. Recent projects have included the following:
· The leasing of 1.6 million square feet of warehouse space within an industrial center located adjacent to the City of Industry, California (representing the developer/landlord).
· The acquisition of a 2.4 million square foot regional shopping mall in Torrance, California and subsequent redevelopment of the same, including the restructuring of operating and reciprocal easement agreements and leases (representing the purchaser/mall owner).
· The acquisition and redevelopment of a 1.15 million square foot regional shopping mall in Kenner, Louisiana, including a new ground lease for a 43,000 square foot multiplex cinema and a new 148,000 square foot department store (representing the purchaser/mall owner).
· The leasing of multiple sites in San Diego County for a national retailer, including numerous ground leases and a 13,000 square foot retail lease within a mixed-use office/retail condominium project (representing the tenant).
· The leasing of retail space in two 50,000 square foot mixed-use residential/retail projects located in Los Angeles, including leases with several national retailers (representing the landlord).
· The leasing of office, warehouse and industrial space in Australia, China, Dubai, France, Mexico and Vietnam for the international division of a prominent manufacturer (representing the tenant).
· The leasing of various retail and outlet premises for a national clothing retailer, including sites in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas (representing the tenant).
Mr. Steere's clients are a diverse group, including shopping center and office building developers, financial institutions, motion picture and television production companies, movie exhibitors, retailers and prominent entertainers. In addition to his transactional work, Mr. Steere counsels clients in loan workouts, lease disputes and other prelitigation matters. He is frequently called upon to comment on current legal issues by various publications and to speak before business and legal groups on real estate topics. His professional recognitions have included multiple selections to Super Lawyers of Southern California.
