Martin F. Dowd is a partner in the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. He joined McCarter & English, LLP in 1987 and became a member of the firm in 1994. Mr. Dowd's practice comprises all aspects of real estate law, with a particular focus on the areas of the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate and commercial leasing transactions.
Mr. Dowd is a member of the real estate department's leasing practice, representing both landlords and tenants in preparing and negotiating office, industrial and retail leases for properties throughout the United States. He represents institutional investors, national developers and corporate users in the structuring and implementation of complex real estate transactions; development of major real estate projects; and acquisition and disposition of real estate investments and portfolios.
Mr. Dowd handles and supervises the due diligence and transfer of real estate assets involved in mergers and acquisitions, including facilities located in the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.
Mr. Dowd has served as a lecturer for numerous programs for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and National Business Institute on various aspects of commercial real estate transactions.
Mr. Dowd has been recognized as a Chambers USA "Leaders in their Field" lawyer for 2004-2012 and as a New Jersey Super Lawyer for 2005-2012. He is also listed in the 2007-2012 issues of Best Lawyers in America, has been named as the Best Lawyers' 2010 Newark Real Estate Lawyer of the Year and as one of the Top 100 New Jersey Super Lawyers 2010.
