| Biography | Mr. LaPointe is a member of the Litigation practice at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. and serves as chair of the Firm’s Labor and Employment practice. He has practiced in the Labor and Employment area for more than twenty years, concentrating on the defense of employers in discrimination lawsuits and other employment-related contract and tort actions. He has successfully tried many employment cases throughout the United States and has argued numerous cases on appeal. Mr. LaPointe also represents private and public organizations in a variety of commercial litigation matters including constitutional challenges, personal injury defense and breach of contract cases. Mr. LaPointe provides counseling to employers on various aspects of state and federal civil rights legislation and maintains primary responsibility for the defense and management of claims under several nationwide Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) programs. He also represents management in the collective bargaining process and other traditional labor matters. Formerly a law clerk for the Honorable Charles R. Norgle, Sr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Mr. LaPointe has spoken and written on a wide range of employment issues. He was a member of the Editorial Board and a Contributor/Writer of the Journal of Employment Discrimination Law (CCH, Inc.) and has published several articles in the Journal. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Labor Law Journal (CCH, Inc.) Mr. LaPointe received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, summa cum laude, and his J.D. degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, Order of the Coif and with high honors, in 1987.
