Professional Experience
Martin Wolman is "Of Counsel" in the Individual Clients department. He advises individual clients regarding their estate planning, with particular emphasis on the options available for minimizing applicable inheritance and income taxes and the impact of estate planning devices on long-term tax planning and on relationships among family members. Martin also has extensive experience in the administration of complex estates and trusts.
Martin is a member and past chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Estate and Probate Section and a member and past chair of the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He was also a member of the Probate Committee of the State of Connecticut Law Revision Commission. Martin has been a lecturer in law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he has taught the course on estate planning, and has lectured at the New England Tax Institute; Connecticut Bar Association Continuing Legal Education seminars; and numerous other programs on estate planning, taxation, and administration. Martin has served as chair of the firm's Individual Clients Department and in other firm management positions, including chair of its Executive Committee.
Martin's current charitable activities include the board of directors of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, where he currently is chair of the board and the board of directors of the Hartford Health Care Corporation. He was chair of the board of directors of Hartford Hospital and was chair of the Kingswood-Oxford School board. He also serves, and has served, a number of other charitable organizations, including the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Hill-Stead Museum, as a member of the board or in other capacities. Martin lives in Deep River, CT. He has four children. He has many interests, including opera and gardening.
