Biography

Matt is qualified as a mediator and mediates complex matters in bankruptcy, business and family law matters.

Matt' present practice includes complex financial restructuring and bankruptcy reorganizations, including consumer bankruptcies, as well as business litigation. He represents debtors and creditors in both business and consumer bankruptcies and in business litigation in Federal and Texas state courts Matt is admitted to all Federal District Courts in Texas, all Texas state courts, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th & 10th Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.

He was named a "Texas Super Lawyer" in the October, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2009 issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers. (Distinction is limited to top 5% of Texas lawyers.)

During 1992-1994, Matt was Bankruptcy Counsel for the Resolution Trust Corporation Headquarters, Washington, D.C. where he was responsible for negotiating a $104 million settlement paid to the RTC by Dallas real estate developer, Craig Hall. The settlement was one the largest in RTC history.

Matt has substantial experience in representing oil & gas exploration companies as debtors in Chapter 11, including obtaining confirmation of a Chapter 11 Plan for Reliant Exploration, Ltd, a John R. "Jack" Stanley affiliate. Named, "Texas Super Lawyer" in the areas of Bankruptcy and Workout in the Texas Monthly Magazine and Texas Super Lawyers Magazine, October 2004, 2005 and 2006.
