Matthew A. Simmons is a Government & Global Trade associate in Mayer Brown's Chicago office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of public finance and state and local government law.
Matthew has gained experience in public finance transactions. He represents issuers, underwriters and commercial banks in connection with taxable and tax-exempt financings for governmental entities such as the State of Illinois, the City of Chicago, the Illinois Finance Authority, City Colleges of Chicago and the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Matthew also has extensive experience representing issuers, borrowers, underwriters and commercial banks in connection with capital markets transactions in the public, 144A and asset-backed commercial paper conduit markets in the United States.
In addition to his finance work, Matthew has experience representing clients in connection with various state and local government matters, including ethics, contractual obligations, public pension systems, legislative drafting and statutory interpretation.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Matthew worked as an attorney in the Legal Counsel Division of the City of Chicago Department of Law.
