Matthew's experience with the United States Patent and Trademark Office allows him to represent clients effectively and efficiently in a wide variety of patent procurement matters, spanning software, hardware, wireless networks, telecommunications, multimedia, social networks, online technologies, "green" technologies, finance, and business methods.
Matthew has assisted technology, media, and financial companies in various merger and acquisition scenarios, where he has focused on the underlying intellectual property assets and risks in those transactions. He has also advised clients on issues concerning patent validity and invalidity, product and service patentability, freedom to operate, litigation risk, and competitive patent portfolios. He counsels web service providers and smartphone application companies in online privacy matters and issues involving application access by minors.
