Matthew Peters* is the National Leader, Markets, and a partner in the Technology Group. In this role, Mr. Peters is responsible for the development of the firm's overall approach to the marketplace and clients. Mr. Peters also oversees the firm's industry and client programs, which incorporates the development of client service plans and operation of the firm's client satisfaction measurement program.
Mr. Peters has been ranked among Canada's top lawyers by numerous publications, such as the 2012 The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of information technology law and he has been named The Best Lawyers' 2012 Vancouver Technology Law Lawyer of the Year. He also appears in the 2012 Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of information technology, 2011 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directoryas a leading lawyer in the areas of corporate mid-market, computer and IT law, technology transactions and private equity; and 2011 International Who's Who of Internet and E-Commerce Lawyers.
Mr. Peters was the recipient of the 2010 Lexpert Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40award for his exceptional leadership and the high level of service he provides to his clients.
Highlights of Mr. Peters' recent experience include:
· acting as lead counsel and negotiator in a number of large business process outsourcings, one of which was the largest in its market in Canada;
· complex licensing and alliance arrangements; and
· complex commercial telecommunication transactions.
Mr. Peters is active in both industry and community organizations. He is currently a DigiBC board member and sits on the United Way Campaign Cabinet. He also lectures at various programs and conferences on numerous topics including outsourcing, privacy, mergers and acquisitions and start-up issues.
Mr. Peters received his LLB in 1994 from the University of Victoria where he received several awards including the Law Foundation Scholarship and the Allan Higenbottom Award. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 1995.
