Biography

Matthew Morgan is an associate in the Indianapolis, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he is a member of the firm's Governmental Services & Finance Department. Mr. Morgan is also a member of the firm's Entrepreneurial Services Practice Group.

In the area of Government Services, Mr. Morgan primarily concentrates his practice in governmental regulation and public finance. He routinely works with Indiana cities, towns, and counties on a wide variety of state and federal lobbying issues. Further, he represents private clients before state and local regulatory bodies such as the Indiana Election Commission, the State Ethics Commission, and the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. In the public finance area, Mr. Morgan assists city, county, and school officials on various aspects of public finance and economic development initiatives.

In the area of Entrepreneurial Services, Mr. Morgan primarily concentrates his practice on growth-oriented businesses that need to capture the attention of government officials at both state and national levels through lobbying, procurement, and public affairs efforts.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Morgan was a summer associate in the firm's Indianapolis office. Additionally, he has served as an intern for the Indiana Office of Management and Budget, the Indiana Finance Authority, and the Honorable Allen Sharp of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.

Mr. Morgan received his B.A. in 2004 with majors in political science and psychology from Purdue University, where he served as student body president and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 2008, Mr. Morgan received his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. During law school, he was a president of the Student Bar Association, a member of the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review, and a finalist in the 2005 Honorable Robert H. Staton Moot Court Competition. While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Morgan earned his M.B.A. from the Kelley School of Business-Indiana University. He focused his M.B.A. coursework in finance and venture management.

Mr. Morgan is admitted to practice in Indiana and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the Indiana Municipal Lawyers Association.
