Matthew I. Lewis is an associate in the firm's Life Insurance & Annuities Practice Group. Matthew assists life insurance and annuity companies on issues relating to stranger-originated life insurance transactions (STOLI), the secondary market for life insurance, structured settlement transfers, and a range of other topics. He is also a member of the firm's privacy team, advising clients on issues related to HIPAA, HITECH, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and other state and federal privacy laws and regulations.
In General. Matthew earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Temple University Beasley School of Law where he served as a research and articles editor on the Temple Journal of Science, Technology, and Environmental Law. During law school, he served as a law clerk at Drinker Biddle in the Life Insurance and Annuities Practice Group. Prior to law school, Matthew consulted state governments on procurement, privatization, and negotiation. His work reinventing Indiana's hearing aid purchasing system saved the state millions of dollars and was featured as the August 2006 cover story of Gov Pro magazine. Matthew received a B.A., with departmental honors, from Haverford College in 2004.
