Overview

Maureen Dwyer, a Director in the Real Estate group, focuses her practice on zoning and municipal law. She represents clients in the development of new corporate, retail, institutional and office facilities, as well as residential properties. Maureen has a proven reputation and long-standing history in the growth and development of the Washington community. Acknowledged by Chambers USA, "clients recognize Maureen Dwyer as one of the top zoning attorneys in the city." Prior to joining the firm, Maureen served as Managing Partner in the DC office of an AmLaw 100 firm.

Representative Experience

· Representation of Costco as lead anchor in the Shops at Dakota Crossing project at Fort Lincoln, as well as in Ward Five.

· Representation of George Washington University in the mixed use development of its campus including the Square 54 project with Boston Properties and the new School of Public Health on Washington Circle.

· Representation of Trinity University in the development of its campus located one block from McMillan Reservoir.

· Representation of The Rockefeller Development Group in its purchase of two office buildings in D.C.

· Represents real estate developers and investors, corporate owners, institutions, foundations and individuals, while placing a particular emphasis on representing private colleges and universities in Washington, D.C.

· Expertise on site selection and initial acquisition through land use, historic preservation, environmental, and building code approval process, including litigation and appellate work.

· Experience representing clients before the DC Council, the DC Zoning Commission, the Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Historic Preservation Review Board, the Mayor's Agent for Historic Preservation, the Commission of Fine Arts and other district and federal agencies involved in land use matters.
