Marc McSweeney is a retired Foley & Lardner partner. Mr. McSweeney was formerly the chair of the firm's Litigation Department; a former member of the Management Committee; and the former Chief Diversity Partner, a role in which he was a catalyst for and leader in carrying out the firm's commitment to diversity.
His practice focused on a wide variety of commercial litigation and counseling, including antitrust, dealer and distributor questions, professional malpractice, securities, and takeovers. He continues to act as an arbitrator in various complex litigation cases. Mr. McSweeney has served as chair of the American Bar Association's Civil Practice and Procedure Committee, Antitrust Section. He also has chaired the Trade Regulation Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a former director of the American Judicature Society, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of business litigation, antitrust law, and corporate law. In addition, Mr. McSweeney is listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers (2005) holding the rank of senior statesman in the area of general commercial litigation, and in the current issue of Who's Who in American Law. He was also named to the 2006 and 2007 lists of Wisconsin Super Lawyers by Law & Politics Media, Inc. for his business litigation work.
Mr. McSweeney received his bachelor's degree from De Paul University in 1960. His J.D. degree was conferred in 1963 by the University of Chicago, where he was a member of the board of editors of the University of Chicago Law Review.
