McCurdy & Candler was formed in 1951 by the late Julius A. McCurdy and the late Scott Candler, Jr. In 1955, the firm name was changed to McCurdy, Candler and Harris with the addition of J. Robin Harris as a partner. The firm name reverted to McCurdy & Candler in 1974 when Mr. Harris became President and later Chairman of Decatur Federal Savings and Loan Association, a long-time and major client of the firm prior to its merger with First Union National Bank.

Aside from traditional services such as civil litigation, corporate law, estate planning and probate, and business transactions, the firm conducts a comprehensive mortgage default practice (from foreclosure to REO closings, as well as title curative services) for its clients throughout the entire states of Georgia and Tennessee. The Firm maintains the highest rating in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory.
