Megan Christensen concentrates her practice in federal income taxation and advises clients in the areas of:
· tax-exempt organizations
· estate tax and planning
· business tax
· new markets tax credits
· nonprofit organizations
Ms. Christensen participated in a clinical program through Washington University School of Law during her third year of law school, where she clerked in the office of the majority tax counsel of the Senate Finance Committee, focusing on pension and social security issues.
Representative Matters
· Represented an organization exempt from income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code in negotiating a comprehensive affinity agreement, including exclusive sponsorship, affinity credit card, licensing of intangibles, and advertising with a nationally recognized insurance company and its affiliates.
Community Service & Affiliations
Megan Christensen serves as the Mission Chair for PULSE, a group of local young professionals, associated with the American Heart Association, working to build a strong beat of commitment to heart health in the next generation of community leaders. In her role as Mission Chair, Ms. Christensen is responsible for ensuring that the American Heart Association's mission of heart health is always present in any PULSE fundraiser, as well as organizing mission related non-fundraising activities for the group.
Ms. Christensen is chair of the ABA's Subcommittee on Current Developments in Nonprofit Corporation Law. She also serves as editor of the ABA's Nonprofit Organizations Committee Newsletter.
