Melissa Groisman Steinfeld is an associate attorney of GrayRobinson and practices out of our Miami and Ft. Lauderdale offices. Melissa is a multilingual South Florida native and a member of the Firm's Customs & International Trade Law Group. She is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, earned a Masters in Information Systems Management from Carnegie Mellon University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Computer Science from Duke University.
Ms. Groisman represents both domestic and multinational corporations in matters arising before U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as numerous other Federal agencies including the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Experienced with the laws and regulations affecting imported merchandise, Ms. Groisman devotes her practice to structuring international trade transactions in order to legally minimize duty payments. Such work concerns the valuation, tariff classification, and proper identification of country of origin of imported merchandise. She often involves the preparation of binding ruling requests, protests, and other communication with U.S. Customs. She provides legal counsel in the drafting of voluntary disclosures and the negotiation and resolution of penalties, liquidated damages, and other enforcement actions taken by U.S. Customs.
As an Argentinean-American, Melissa is a fully fluent native Spanish speaker. In addition, Ms. Groisman lived in Israel for over a year, and is conversationally fluent in Hebrew. Her love of travel has taken her all over the world, and she has travelled extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
