Biography

Meredith is a Member in the firm's Boston office, where she practices in the Litigation Section.

Meredith has a diverse litigation and counseling practice that includes all aspects of state and federal litigation. She specializes in complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on biotechnology and licensing disputes, contract disputes, health care and corporate fiduciary duty cases. Some of Meredith's recent cases include the following:

· Leading a "bet the company" case on behalf of a publicly owned in vitro diagnostic manufacturer, and obtaining a successful settlement of an arbitration based on claims that the manufacturer's licensee had failed to develop and commercialize the manufacturer's microRNA-based products, as required by the parties' licensing agreement.

· Representing a privately owned in vitro diagnostic manufacturer and its publicly owned parent in the favorable settlement of a dispute with one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies over the right to distribute a companion diagnostic kit for use in the oncology market.

· Representing the CFO of a high-tech company for alleged unlawful backdating of stock options for hundreds of employees. Notwithstanding comments in the media by one of the nation's most respected securities law professors that the case presented "the clearest instance of criminal scienter he had ever seen," Meredith assisted in persuading the federal government not to bring a criminal action against her client and negotiated a favorable settlement with the SEC of all claims, without any admission of guilt by the client.

· Obtaining a judgment from the Massachusetts Business Court, overturning the state's pharmacy assessment tax and ordering the Commonwealth to refund $18 million in taxes collected from the pharmacies. The court enjoined any further collection of the tax, resulting in a savings to Meredith's clients of more than $36 million annually.

· Representing a Ghanaian family pro bono and successfully obtained more than $1.85 million from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

· In a first-of-its-kind privacy class action lawsuit brought in New York seeking $100 million in damages, Meredith and her Mintz Levin colleagues won a trial verdict dismissing all claims against her client, a Fortune 100 company.

Meredith is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She earned her A.B., cum laude, from Bowdoin College (1996), and was awarded her J.D., summa cum laude, from Boston College Law School (2002), where she served as a senior editor of the Boston College Law Review and was named to the Order of the Coif.
