Michael Campbell is a partner in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP where he is a member of the Corporate Department and co-chair of the firm's Lending & Structured Finance Practice Group. Mr. Campbell concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and real estate financing, including commercial loan documentation, real estate and construction lending and tax exempt financing. He also represents clients in mergers and acquisition and general corporate matters.
Mr. Campbell is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Business and Tax Section and Real Estate Section), and the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He currently serves on several committees for the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He is vice president and serves on the board of directors of Legal Aid of West Michigan.
Mr. Campbell attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with honors in 1976 with a B.B.A. in finance. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1979 and a M.B.A. in finance from Michigan State University in 1983.
Mr. Campbell's professional recognitions include listings in industry reviews such as the 2007-2011 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities Loans, as well as the 2007-2011 editions of Super Lawyers® and 2007-2011 editions of Chambers USA. In addition to his professional commitment, Mr. Campbell is active in the region's civic and nonprofit communities, serving on numerous boards and committees. He is a past officer and director of the West Michigan Chapter of the Association of Corporate Growth (and still serves on the program committee). Mr. Campbell is a member and served on the program committee of The Economic Club of Grand Rapids. He is the head varsity lacrosse coach for Catholic Central High School and a certified MHSAA and COC lacrosse official.
