Biography

Mr. Mullin has extensive litigation experience and has tried to conclusion more than 50 jury trials and numerous bench trials in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, toxic tort and insurance coverage disputes. He has successfully handled numerous appeals to the Nebraska Court of Appeals, the Nebraska Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Mullin's litigation experience has been recognized inTheBest Lawyers in America , which lists him in three separate practice areas: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Personal Injury Litigation and Insurance Law.Chambers USAhas also recognized him for his experience in the Insurance Litigation practice area and for his mediation practice. Mr. Mullin was recognized byBenchmark Litigation 2011as a Local Litigation Star for his work in personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, toxic tort, insurance coverage and mediation. OneBenchmarkparticipant said Mike is the best mediator in the state. Mr. Mullin also has been invited to join the International Association of Defense Counsel, Litigation Counsel of America and the American Board of Trial Advocates. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Mullin has served as a mediator in over 2,000 disputes. He regularly mediates over 300 disputes per year. He has successfully mediated a wide range of civil disputes, including class action lawsuits, FLSA collective actions, FELA claims, Superfund CERCLA cost recovery actions, catastrophic injury claims, shareholder disputes and virtually all types of business and commercial disputes. Over 90% of his mediated cases to date have resulted in a successful agreement. Mr. Mullin was recognized as theBest Lawyers 2011 Omaha Alternative Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, andBest Lawyers 2014 Omaha Mediation Lawyer of the Year. Only a single lawyer in each specialty area in each community is recognized. He also is included inThe International Who's Who of Commercial Mediation2011 and 2013, an honor limited to fewer than 90 mediators in the United States and approximately 300 worldwide. Mr. Mullin has been inducted as Distinguished Fellow into the International Academy of Mediators and a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is the only Nebraska Mediator to be inducted into either organization. Mr. Mullin has been certified by the American Academy of ADR attorneys and is a charter member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and a founding member of the Nebraska Mediation Association. He has served as a board member of the Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution and the advisory board of the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at Creighton University School of Law. He currently is serving as the Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association. Mr. Mullin is on the panel of approved mediators for the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska. He also is an approved panelist for ADR Systems of America, Resolute Systems, and Mediation Works, Inc.

Mr. Mullin has demonstrated his commitment to his profession and to his community by serving on numerous law-related and civic boards and committees. He has previously served as President of the Omaha Bar Association, and since 1993 has been an elected member of the Nebraska State Bar Association House of Delegates. He has served as a board member and officer of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation. Mr. Mullin serves on the alumni advisory board of Creighton University School of Law and has previously served as President of the board of directors of the Omaha Children's Museum.
