Michael L. Dever practices in the fields of intellectual property litigation and licensing. He has prepared patent and trademark applications and has prosecuted them before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Michael is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Executive Committee. Michael has experience in a broad range of disciplines including chemical products and formulations; biomedical devices and procedures; metallurgical compositions; and mechanical and electromechanical devices. Michael is actively involved in counseling start-up and growing companies to assist them in establishing procedures and guidelines to protect their intellectual property assets. He advises companies on how to avoid infringing on their competitors' patents and assists companies in selecting, adopting and using trademarks. His practice also includes drafting and negotiating intellectual property licenses. Michael also conducts due diligence reviews in connection with acquisitions and financings and also assists in the valuation of intellectual property. Michael is also actively involved in litigating intellectual property disputes. He has litigated patent, trademark, and copyright infringement cases in federal courts across the country. Active in the community, Michael is a board member of the United Way of Allegheny County Young Leaders Group and is a member of the Finance Committee of Achieva.
