Michael Fleischer is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm's Real Estate Department.
Michael has a wide breath of experience with real estate and hotel transactions, having been both an attorney and a principal investor on transactions valued in the billions of dollars.
Michael has represented institutional and non-institutional investors in complex real estate transactions including restructurings, asset and portfolio acquisitions, dispositions, discounted loan and loan portfolio acquisitions, off-balance-sheet financings, joint venture formation, and preferred equity, mezzanine and senior secured financings (bridge and permanent) for a broad spectrum of property types, including office, hotel (with and without condominium components), retail, residential (single-family detached, master planned, multi-family and condominium), industrial and land.
Michael's experience includes more than five years as a real estate principal investor on behalf of a nationally recognized real estate opportunity fund. He has also been active as a strategic business advisor for complex restructurings and workouts involving a wide range of assets. Michael previously practiced law with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York from 1997 to 2002.
Michael earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, and a B.A. in economics from Columbia College. He is an active speaker at real estate industry conferences on topics including finance, restructurings, workouts, joint venture formation and industry trends.
Michael is admitted to practice law in California and New York.
