Michael Glanz has an active and extensive global commercial law practice. He regularly advises U.S. companies doing business in Europe, Asia and South America, as well as non-U.S. corporate clients with operations in the U.S. and other countries. Michael counsels these clients on cross-border acquisitions and other transactions, joint venture negotiations, and the structuring of multinational business operations. He was one of the founders of Foley Hoag's International Practice Group and served as its chair for many years. Michael counsels companies in industries as diverse as high technology, medical device manufacturing, and forestry. He has also advised a foreign government on privatizing assets in a variety of industries. Prior to joining the firm in 1986, Michael served as Attorney-Advisor in the Office of the Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State. His responsibilities included development and presentation of U.S. Government positions in international negotiations and arbitral proceedings. In that capacity he served as a Member of the U.S. Delegation for the U.S.-Ethiopian claims negotiations in Addis Ababa (1985), and as an Adviser to the Agent at the U.S.- Iran Claims Tribunal in the Hague (1985).
