Michael S. Nolan is a retired partner from the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner LLP. A former member of the firm's Business Law Department (Transactional & Securities Practice Group), he practiced general corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on public offerings of securities for utilities, business corporations, and for-profit and nonprofit health care providers and retirement communities. He represented underwriters, issuers, and trustees in connection with more than 350 public offerings of taxable and tax-exempt debt securities. He also has represented clients in investments, licenses, joint ventures, and business acquisitions in Mexico and South and Central America.
A member of the American Bar Association, Mr. Nolan was appointed by the president of the State Bar of Wisconsin to serve as a member of the State Bar's Special Committee on Standard Forms of Legal Opinions. He also is chairman of its Corporate/Securities Subcommittee. He was the draftsman of the original regulations issued by the Wisconsin Commissioner of Securities following the adoption of the Wisconsin Uniform Securities Law.
Mr. Nolan is a graduate of Marquette University (LL.B., Law School, magna cum laude,1965; B.A., summa cum laude,1961), where he was an editor of The Law Review and a member of the Woolsack Society. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Manchester, UK, 1961-62.
