Michael Anglin focuses his practice on real estate transactions. He represents financial institutions, opportunity funds, developers and other real estate owners, institutions of higher education, government agencies, corporate tenants and others in all aspects of the financing, acquisition, disposition, ownership and leasing of real estate.
Mike represents lenders, borrowers and investors in connection with mortgage, mezzanine and equity financing of various types of real estate projects, including acquisition, construction, interim and permanent financing, and including both single asset and pooled asset loans.
He also represents developers and other owners and investors in the acquisition of real estate and real estate interests, including in connection with joint ventures. He has extensive experience in leasing and has represented both owners and tenants in numerous leasing transactions. He also has expertise in ground leasing and ground lease financing and has represented mortgage and mezzanine lenders, landowners and ground tenants in complex transactions involving ground leased properties.
In depressed real estate markets, including the recent market and the market of the early 1990's, Mike's practice has focused on representing lenders and borrowers in connection with troubled real estate loans. This includes numerous loan restructurings, loan sales, foreclosures and deed-in-lieu transactions. He also advises lenders in connection with complex intercreditor relationships and borrowers in connection with complex joint venture relationships, as these relate to loan restructurings and enforcements.
Mike joined Cadwalader with many years of experience in real estate practice. He was previously a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP and an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.
He received his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and was the recipient of several American Jurisprudence Awards. He received a B.A. from Binghamton University, where he was cited for outstanding academic performance.
Mike is admitted to practice in the State of New York. He is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and has served on its Committee on Real Property Law. He is also a member of New York State Bar Association and its Real Property Law Section.
