Mike Lieberman is an associate in Crowell & Moring's White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement and Litigation Groups. He actively represents clients litigating criminal and civil matters at both the trial and appellate level. On the criminal side, Mike's practice has ranged widely, including helping clients facing allegations of wire and securities fraud, tax evasion, bribery, price fixing, and narcotics charges. On the civil side, Mike's practice has been similarly broad, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving civil rights, contracts, torts, health care, and other complex litigation.
Mike received his J.D. from Georgetown University in 2008 where he graduated magna cum laude and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. While at Georgetown, Mike served as Senior Symposium and Development Editor and a Senior Board Member for the Georgetown Law Journal. He also participated in the Georgetown Criminal Justice Clinic, where he received the distinguished Alan J. Goldstein Memorial Award for his "use of intelligence, creativity, and resourcefulness in defending criminal clients." Mike received his B.A. from Duke University in 2001 with a double major in Public Policy and Economics and a minor in History.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, from 2001-2007, Mike worked as Military Legislative Assistant to Congressman John M. Spratt, Jr. (D-SC), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee. In that capacity, Mike was a senior advisor to the Congressman on policy areas including national defense, homeland security, energy, environment, and economic development, just to name a few. For his work, Mike received the Palmetto Patriot Award in 2006 for service to the state of South Carolina and the South Carolina National Guard. In addition to his time on Capitol Hill, in 2007, Mike served as a law clerk in the Federal Major Crimes Division of United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.
Mike is a member of the Virginia state bar, the D.C. Bar, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and currently serves as the Chair of the Arlington County (VA) Democratic Committee.
